Bike Hire

  • Bike and e-bike collection is available from The Exchange in Tarbert, Isle of Harris.

    We’re centrally located less than five minutes from the ferry terminal, making us an ideal starting point for exploring Harris.

  • We currently have:
    - 4 Electric Bikes (E-Bikes)
    - 2 Standard Bikes (Copenhagen Bikes)


    Availability is limited, so early booking is recommended.

  • - E-Bikes: £40.00 per day
    - Standard Bikes: £20.00 per day

    Full-day hire runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm, available Monday - Saturday.

  • All hires include:
    - Bike hire
    - Safety helmet
    - Full-day hire (9am – 5pm)
    - Guidance on bike use and local routes

  • This is a self-service hire system.
    Before your booking, you’ll receive the following information via email:
    - Collection instructions
    - A secure bike access code

    - Directions to the bike shed

    No check-in is required.

  • The bikes are collected from The Exchange in Tarbert.


    The bike shed is located up the stairs, to the left of the EV charging points.

  • Yes – helmets must be worn at all times when riding our bikes.

  • Helmet liners are a thin cotton cap we suggest you wear under your helmet for hygiene reasons.

    These are required as part of our hiring process.

    You can:
    - Purchase one for £3
    - Bring your own liner

  • Our e-bikes can travel up to approximately 100 miles on a single charge depending
    on:

    - Terrain
    - Wind conditions
    - Rider weight
    - Assistance level used

  • Yes – both standard bikes and e-bikes are suitable for most riders who are confident cycling on roads.

    We’ll provide guidance on bike use and recommended local routes.

  • Bike hire is suitable for riders aged 16 and over.

  • Weather conditions in Harris can change quickly.

    If conditions are unsafe, we may recommend postponing your hire.

    We recommend bringing:
    - Waterproof clothing
    - Warm layers
    - Suitable footwear

  • You are responsible for the bike during the hire period.

    Charges may apply for:
    - Damage
    - Loss
    - Theft
    - Missing equipment
    - Late returns

  • If you need assistance during your hire, please contact us using the number provided in your booking confirmation.

  • All bikes must be returned by 5:00pm unless otherwise agreed.
    Late returns may incur additional charges.

  • A full refund is available for cancellations made within 24 hours of booking.

Meeting Room Hire

  • The meeting room is located within The Exchange in Tarbert, Isle of Harris, conveniently positioned between Stornoway and Uist and just minutes from the ferry
    terminal.

  • The meeting room is available from £50.00 per full day.


    For longer bookings or recurring use, please contact us directly.

  • Your booking includes:
    - Conference table and seating
    - Large wall-mounted TV
    - Video conferencing system
    - HDMI and USB laptop connectivity
    - High-speed Wi-Fi
    - Tea and coffee facilities
    - Fridge access
    - Private self-service access via door code

  • Yes. The room is equipped for video conferencing and supports Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and other online meeting platforms.


    You can connect your own laptop using the HDMI and USB cables provided.

  • Yes – high-speed Wi-Fi is included with all bookings.


    Connection details are provided in your booking confirmation email.

  • No – there is no need to collect keys.


    Access is provided digitally using a secure door code.

  • Possibly – please contact us to discuss your requirements.


    We may be able to accommodate early morning, evening, or weekend bookings depending on availability.

  • Yes, free parking is available nearby.

  • Yes. Catering and lunches can be arranged through our local deli partner for a fee.

  • Most guests simply bring their laptop.


    HDMI and USB connection cables are provided for use with the screen and conferencing system.

  • Yes. Tea and coffee facilities and a fridge are available for your use.

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the booking start time.

  • Yes. Full payment is required before the booking.
